Steel, leather and rubber bands.
The PK80 daybed draws inspiration from a 1930s sofa designed by Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich. Mies van de Rohe was Kjaerholm’s idol. Like many of his designs, the daybed is deceptively simple and is based upon his ethos of showcasing the beauty of the chosen materials.
In 2004, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York acquired the PK80 - solidifying its place in the canon of 20th-century design.
