A. Michelsen was a prestigious Danish jewellery house, founded in Copenhagen in 1841 by master goldsmith Anton Michelsen. From its beginnings, the company became renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship, timeless style, and close relationship with the Danish royal court. For more than a century, A. Michelsen was entrusted with executing all official Danish state jewellery and silver commissions, cementing its reputation as one of the country’s most important goldsmiths.
The firm specialised in finely crafted jewellery, silverware, and decorative objects that reflected the elegance of 19th- and 20th century Scandinavian design. A. Michelsen’s creations were admired for their artistry, attention to detail, and use of high-quality materials, blending traditional goldsmithing techniques with the evolving aesthetics of modern design. In 1985, A. Michelsen was absorbed by the renowned design house Georg Jensen A/S, another cornerstone of Danish craftsmanship. Today, antique jewellery and silver by A.
